You know it is funny, (not that story it made me sad) but we all have mole hills that we turn into mountains and sometimes we have mountains that are actually mountains. I was jaded by unrequited love as well, as most men and some women have been. Looking back, it was all worth it somehow. I can say that because i ended up happy(as of this moment). To be honest though, up until this point, i never really thought about all the other kids and tweens and teens i grew up with that also were scorn by cupid. Back in the "olden days" i had an excuse:kids are selfish, self centered and centrist. Many a child thinks that they are the sun and we are the planets. Unfortunately, too many adults do as well. It has taken a long time for me to become a Saturn or a Mars, but i think i am almost there. Of course, we all have days where we are the sun and we shine warms rays of light on others and in return they all revolve around us. My only hope is to shrink the number of days like that, and grow the days where my needs come secondary to those of others. Through that, i will receive the love and affection I think, as humans, we will always crave.

As always(in your entries), inspiring and hopeful. I would equate the when and if to the what if. For some reason whatif has popped up in separate places and conversations lately...you know the whatif I speak about: what if i left 5 minutes later or earlier(when there is an accident on your usual route). What if I never went to THAT college, what if i never bought this house. The whatifs can kill you if you were trying to avoid a bad decision, but almost all of my whatifs (at least the big ones) have resulted in great things. I like to look back at my whatifs and smile knowing that for all the bad decisions i may have made, they have all lead me to this place where I am now...happy and satisfied. I find it almost unbelievable that for all the turns I could have taken or minutes I could have left earlier or later....things have gone ok. So i don't try to forget the past (good or bad) I embrace it. It gives me hope that my tomorrows are shaped by my yesterdays and try as they may, my yesterdays will never be as promising as my tomorrows.

The Material that is currently being used for Confirmation Class says that, whereas compassion meets the needs of the individual, justice take on the underlying cause of their condition and tried to solve it. This is done without regard to race, sex, orientation, or any of the other dividers in our society. I feel that the two, compassion and justice, need to work hand in hand. Because, to screw with Spock's head, The needs of the many are equal to the needs of the few or the one.

I am a fan of that sentiment....no matter how bad it feels to be "you" someone probably feels worse...and someone you know. I took that passage to mean that we should look outside and give others hope and in that find hope and happiness. I never really thought that those passages refer to people around me, always to me and i found it easier to dispel it knowing that it was for me to hear. Thinking as Erik is, I feel more accepting of those teachings. I find it easier to accept that God wants me to reach out as mush as searching withing.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a pretty kick-butt bingo player...so bring it!!

Wait.....there is or is not eggnog? I agree....I shamefully admit that this time of year is the week I get to spend with my kids actually hanging out. It lost its religious connotation a while back. I still respect it for what it symbolizes for so many...but for me it is a time to recharge and reconnect with ALL that is important to me
