“We bought couches for an absolute bargain. Lollie’s feet were on it the other evening. We had friends over and it gave them great freedom to relax and be themselves on it, a few of them put their own feet on the couches too.
We bought the couches at a second hand store. They were upholstered a few days before and they were perfect for us. We liked the look and subjected it to the laying down test. They passed.
Lollie commented afterwards that she wanted couches like these and not the stiff couches we saw in the ridiculous expensive stores – couches that will never permit people to relax and be themselves.”
At the DC we believe the same is true with church, we can have a church/theology/faith that’s extremely stiff and smells expensive, yet no-one wants or feels comfortable with it. Or we can create a place for people to come in, as they are, and feel-maybe for the first time, that they belong.
